Dear Readers,
I wanted to introduce myself. My name is Aspen Bennett and I run a coffeehouse called Thorn’s Brew, with my twin, Jacks, in a little place called Monroe. The facts have gotten a little muddled over the years and some people don’t remember how the story went.
There was this guy. We’ll call him Thorn. Who fell in love with this girl. We’ll call her Rowan. He’d walked away from a battle, and she’d wandered away from a town fair in a little place that no longer exists. They found each other by the river Roe. One smile from her was all it took for him to give up his fight. The connection was instant, and their Touch was electrifying. They built a home by the river, and had five sons, named Monroe, Bennett, Hampton, Baine, and Raine.
For years they all lived together by the river, and Thorn kept intruders away from them. Monroe and Bennett, the oldest and a set of twins, had an argument when they turned sixteen. Thorn called Monroe Chase, because the boy wanted to run away. He called Bennett Fortescue, because that boy wanted to stay and protect the land.
What Thorn hadn’t told any of them, including Rowan, was that he’d given each of them a piece of himself to protect them. It also weakened him.
The Sons and Daughters of the Blood, now carry a piece of my grandfather within them. They have to be bred in Monroe(meaning they had to be conceived on my grandfather’s land), born in Monroe(meaning they have to be born on my grandfather’s land), blood in the soil here(meaning they must once bleed to feed the land. Usually, a finger is pricked at birth, to forever tie them to Monroe).
Why? Well, you’ll have to wait and see. I hope you enjoy book 1, Loving Aspen.
