Th🩸rn’s Brew

Bred here, born here, blood in the soil here.

On the surface, Monroe is like any other city, with proud traditions, old money, and a list of Who’s Who. Some attend CloverLeaf University, and that’s all they see. Beneath the facade lies a rich past and a secret; those bred there, born there, and blood in the soil there would die to protect.

Each year, a crop of students attends the university, and among them are the Sons of the Blood, who’ve returned home to make a brilliant match. They have the right name and the right bloodlines. For some, Monroe touches them in unexpected ways. For others, it’s a strange place with strange traditions, and they can’t wait to leave.

Family Tree

Skins protect the Scales because Greer, was a skin when he pledged himself to Thorn. He took a drop of Thorn’s blood on his tongue, passing down the magic. When Greer had children, one in every set of twins was a dragon, a manifestation of the Scales. This also made those children Thorn’s descendants.

Lord Somerset cursed Thorn’s bloodline, including the guards. They must say their vows before they turn 25, the same age his dragon wife was when he married her.

His descendants try to kill the legacies before they are 25 or stop them from mating to trap the dragon half like Somerset did when he imprisoned his first wife, the dragon queen.

Legacies must mate by their 25th birthday or the 25th birthday of their mate, which may take years to meet them.

The curse begins if they don’t say their vows on time or the mate dies. If they do say their vows and the mate dies, they are free to mate again, but the curse still lingers and they must mate the next one chosen for them before the chosen mate turns 25 or dies.

The Blessed- direct descendants of Thorn.

Elders- the original guard. They don’t mate. Their children do.

The Touched are the Legacies- the children of the Blessed.

There are Blessed, Touched, and Elders on the Council.
